Inspection Tips

Listed below are some avoidable issues and FAHES advice to help you when your vehicle inspection and registration renewal are due.

NO PAPER PRINTED REPORTS ARE ISSUED: All inspection results are sent via SMS TEXT to the registered phone number with a printable link in Arabic/English.

FAHES advice: To save the disappointment a failure causes please see our recommended 'preparing your car' advice.

FAHES advice: Please dress appropriately with respect for Qatari culture when going to any Traffic Department office or counter (shorts are not considered appropriate at the Traffic Department)
FAHES advice: arrive between 12:00 - 15:00 mid week in the middle of the month to avoid the busiest times. (Closed Friday)

The inspection service is in most demand between 08:00 - 12:00 at the beginning and end of the week and at the start and end of the month, also after the summer vacation.

FAHES advice: For the mandatory TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT approval that is required after the FAHES technical inspection, please arrive during the on site TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT offices opening times.
All FAHES and Traffic Departments are closed on Fridays and
National Holidays.

Note: The Traffic Department counters at Fahes centres have different opening times to Fahes.

 Location/Station  Saturday  Sunday-Thursday
 Industrial Area  06:00 – 11:30  06:00 – 17:30
Mesaimeer West &      Wadi Al Banaat  Closed  07:00 – 16:30
 Al Wakrah  Closed  07:00 – 12:45
 Al Khor  Closed  07:00 - 12:00

FAHES advice: Bring the correct 'Istamara' preferably or a good photo copy of both sides of the card or the appropriate official Traffic department documents with the vehicle details when requesting a technical inspection.

If the vehicle registration card (Istamara) or a good clear photo copy of both sides of the original card or the appropriate Traffic Department official document isn't available unfortunately we can't register the vehicle for the inspection.

FAHES advice: Bring along with you the valid approval from the Doha municipality in case your vehicle has an advertisement sticker on it, this will be required for legal approvals.

If the vehicle has advertising, aftermarket graphics, stickers or strips these will require Doha municipality official written approval to pass the legal inspection.

FAHES advice: If the vehicle has been imported in to the State of Qatar bring all documents (e.g. custom papers, import papers, under test license plate validity receipt) along with you when you come for an inspection.

FAHES advice: At the inspection registration payment booth/counter ensure you have a valid card payment with sufficient funds and the correct PIN number.
The vehicle inspection can only accept card payments.

FAHES advice: At the TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT office after the technical and legal inspection 'PASS' and the Traffic Department inspection report approval, ensure you have a vaild bank payment card for the registration renewal, this must be completed within the 30 days from the 'first' main inspection date.

The vehicle registration card (Istamara) renewal can only be paid for with a bank card (no cash payments accepted by the TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT)

FAHES advice: Your vehicle insurance renewal may be made at some centers with this facility.
